CAP HISTORY

Scott Moody started as an assistant strength coach in 1996 after finishing his college football career at Louisiana Tech, and was instantly hooked on the multifaceted world of athletic development. After a year of working with Division I athletes, he realized much more he wanted to learn about the area of injury prevention and recovery.

In 1997, Moody traveled to Kansas City to take a position as a Performance Specialist with Sports Care at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Within two years he had built up a following of post rehabilitation athletes who continued to train with him even after the rehabilitation was complete. This motivated him to start a progressive rehabilitation program called Sport Dynamics through St. Luke’s-Shawnee Mission Health Systems. Within nine months of working athletic based power and speed exercises into the post-rehabilitation programs it was clear that a more advanced approach was needed.

Moody founded Centers for Athletic Performance, Inc. (CAP) in November of 1999 as he and his staff moved into the 5000 sq foot training center in Overland Park, Kansas.  Over the next 8 years he would assemble a group of motivated strength / speed trainers, coaches, researchers, physical therapists, and performance based equipment manufacturers who all shared the same vision...

“Redefining Modern Athletics”.

In January 2008 CAP moved into their new 16,000 sq foot Training and Research Center where speed, power, strength, and stability based programs are implemented in specific developmental progressions with athletes of all ages and sports.

Over the last few years CAP has seen thousands of athletes in their training programs. CAP trained athletes are among the best in the region: from standouts at the club, high school and college level to All-Americans, National Champions, and World Record Holders, CAP athletes catch the attention of all who witness them in competition.

CAP FUTURE

By creating partnerships with other organizations, CAP has established itself on both a local and an international stage as an elite training and research organization that bases its program off the 4 T’s (Testing, Training, Tracking and Teaching).  As the CAP Training and Research Center continues to add new components, the bar will be raised once again. Developing new protocols and sport specific, Functional Integrated Training (F.I.T.) Curriculums, CAP is now working with coaches all over the world to bridge the gap between off-field training and on-field performance.

“We hope to offer something for everyone,” states Scott Moody, Founder and CEO of CAP.  “We will stick to our mission of making a positive impact in the life of every individual that chooses to train here. Confidence, character, and the continued pursuit of each goal is what drives our ownership, staff and clients to make a difference each and every day!”
