What does CAP Offer? Education Other organizations boast the ability to bridge the gap between science and coaching, but very rarely is it put in a form that is understood by both and presented in a useable form. Even from our perspective as a strength and conditioning, speed and agility facility, when dealing with Soccer Coaches, my view on what needs to be done from a conditioning stand point does not always mesh with their understanding of what needs to be done on the field to prepare for the upcoming tournament. Thus the need to use research, education and a protocol with a background that is explained in the terms a coach can understand and easily implement. So often there is too much secrecy when offering information. Either the background or philosophy is offered without the drills to implement it, or a specific portion of a workout is offered (usually either the most basic or the most advanced) without explanation of how, when and why to implement this specific portion. The TRIAD Education Committee would be this bridge, and would be held to a strict, unbiased standard of presenting scientific information to coaches in easy to implement protocols. CAP will benefit from its association with TRIAD and therefore be able to offer information that is directly applicable to coaches, players and parents. By setting up educational Clinics (see Clinics/Camps) CAP would not only be able to educate coaches and parents on new ideas in the fitness and performance world, but also could have the opportunity to learn from these coaches as well. Thus creating an true teaching and learning environment of shared knowledge. |
